MOTORCYCLE SHOPPING!

Yes, I decided to buy a bike.  And no one can tell me otherwise!  NOT.

Laura was not so taken with the idea!!!!

She threatened to make weird faces!

So I got her a RING!

And SHE SAID YES!

THE END
 (OR IS IT THE BEGINNING!?)

In the Spirit of Election Season, we decided to do this Barack Obama Style!

Guapa's got UPS!

Watch in amazement!  This is what Guapa learned to do in St. Louis.  Thanks Nancy and David for teaching her such cool skillz.

Frisbee Golf

Burke, Laura, and I have recently become quite avid enthusiasts of the sport of Disc Golf.  Matthew Fennimore turned us on to the whole thing last spring, but it really took off over the summer and, well, we haven't really gotten that good yet, but we decided that one day we might be decent enough to form a Pro Tour and thus we have created trading cards with our favorite poses (soon to be found in all the local gas stations!)  There plenty of ways in which to propel the discs; the forehand and backhand of course, then there is the pizza toss, and finally, my personal favorite, the Tomahawk.  Here are some of our Trading Cards!
Laura is about to STRIKE!

Burke is about to dominate the first hole!

First, I'd like to point out that we've mastered Zachis' technique of placing photos in the stream of bloggage.

Second, this is a photo from our beauty hike in the mountains this weekend.  Brian (with Guapa), next to them we find Laura and then Danielle.

Guapa doesn't like SCHOOL!

For Laura and I it was indeed difficult to get back into the routine of school--alas we are not quite there yet!  But Guapa took it personally and as a dangerous threat to the cohesion of her herd.  She went from hiking, traveling, playing, and making merry all summer long to seeing her two favorite herd members abandon her for 8 hours a day!  Don't worry, she entertained herself--to our dismay.

This weekend we had a great time hiking the Herman Lake Trail and then playing in Washington Park.  It may have been the last good park day of the summer season--but I'm sure we'll continue going.  Enjoy the Pics!

Snakes and Ticks in Bed!

I love seeing Laura jump up in the middle of the night and stomp around in bed fully believing that the walls are covered with ticks or my favorite recent instance--that she was being attacked by snakes.  Laura actually jumped to her feet in bed and was stomping around as if she were crushing grapes!  I woke up (fairly quickly I'd like to think) and grabbed her legs as she complained that "they were going to get" her.  She did eventually wake up and I had a good chuckle--it's now one of my favorite memories of her.

School has been going pretty well for the most part.  We've had a lot of meetings which were seemingly scheduled in order to keep us out of our rooms.  Why? you may ask...well because the school is completely under construction still.  They say we'll have our Parents' Night tomorrow and that everything will be clean--I think it may actually happen and the only ones who will seem unprepared will be the teachers after not being able to work on our classrooms at all!

The beginning of school means that our wonderful summer is coming to an end.  I do look forward to the school year and seeing everyone again, but this summer has been wonderful.  Hopefully we'll continue to enjoy ourselves as fully as we have for the past few months!

School's EVE--Oh NO!

Just kidding.  We're actually looking forward to the oddities, difficulties, and fun that will accompany the upcoming year.  Especially at the beginning we expect a lot of chaos (new remodeling efforts at school!) but we hope to embrace it.

For the past week we didn't update, sorry, I was at an AP Spanish Institute and can now teach an AP Spanish course--but alas, maybe next year (it wasn't on the docket for this year).  Laura was busy entertaining all week!  First Anna Y. came with her fam and then Erin Carrol Van Dyke came for a visit.  We had some great times playing disc golf, touring the Coors Brewing Company, and generally making merriment.

Tomorrow we are off to school and we've begun to devise a schedule to continue to do the fun stuff our summer has offered us.  We'll update more on that later.  In the mean time, enjoy the PICS.

Disc Golf and Camping

We played a round of disc golf with Burke and the dogs.  It was a great time but I fried my back and Laura decided that she would rescue Guapa (who does not ever need rescuing) and got stuck in the mud--very very deep mud.  She eventually got out but almost lost her shoe.  Guapa then returned from her romp with the bunnies and looked at Laura's disgusting legs and arms and led her to a nearby stream.

We also decided to try our luck camping and came to a couple of conclusions:  First--Laura will now navigate for our upcoming journeys as I managed to take the wrong path not once but twice forcing us to walk a total of about 3 extra miles; second, in the future we will stop with plenty of time before dark so we are not scrambling to gather firewood, set up a tent, get dogs fed, get us fed, etc (not that this happened to us, and if it did it certainly wasn't my fault!)
